Overview

Summary

 

The Business Analyst (BA) works with business, technical and operational teams to define and translate business requirements into functional requirements for development and implementation. The BA develops use cases, monitors and communicates progress in the development life cycle, tracks all specifications to the business requirements, provides user training and develops user documentation. The BA develops a test plan, test case scenarios, defect reporting, and run day schedules. The individual also partners with internal team members for Internal Customer Acceptance Testing (ICAT) and external clients for External Customer Acceptance Testing (ECAT).

 

The BA is process-oriented and has a strong, working knowledge of System Development Lifecycle and Change Management processes. Typical projects include:

 

  • Product development and enhancement
  • Client implementations
  • Data conversions
  • Post-acquisition corporate integrations
  • Software development

 

The ideal candidate has the ability to develop relationships with partners in business operations and IT. The individual will have a passion for teamwork and executing towards end objectives. Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

IT Project Management

  • Work with Management/Sales to prioritize projects
  • Develop product implementation & QC checklists
  • Reconciliation and reporting as needed to manage issues
  • Work with IT to develop imports/exports per vendor specs and schedules
  • Coordinate with Finance for reporting

 

Account Management/Product Implementation

  • Work with clients to complete product implementation paperwork
    • Discuss requirements and business rules
    • Explain product processing flow & reporting
    • Train agents and clients on company’s systems
  • Work with clients and vendors to implement exports & reporting requirements; coordinate reports and exports
  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of product implementation                   
    • Follow up with each person for completion of their implementation tasks
    • Supervise Quality Control; develop and maintain testing procedures
  • Product setup to include client configurations and implementation
  • Identify and analyze report requirements and provide documentation for development
  • Perform Data Analysis including data mapping, report analysis and interface definitions

 

Fulfillment and Marketing Materials

  • Work with carriers, vendors and clients to ensure compliance requirements are met for forms, cards, state restrictions, web site & other misc.
  • Manage application and certificate library and additional forms
  • Work with outsourced fulfillment vendors to provide all necessary forms, data, and guidelines for all products applicable.
  • Perform testing for quality assurance

Qualifications

Competencies: 

 

Must Have

  • Ability to dive in, understand the business, and the needs of internal and external customers
  • In depth experience with iterative SDLC processes such as SCRUM, Agile, etc.
  • Detail oriented with a passion for quality
  • Presentation skills / experience with clients and at the C-suite level
  • Strong time management skills, work ethic and customer service orientation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills – both verbal and written
  • Must be able to exercise good judgment and work well independently
  • Able to multi-task, work independently, and follow through on assignments to completion
  • Ability to prioritize work with tight schedules and target dates
  • Strong SQL query experience

Should Have

  • Healthcare and / or insurance industry experience

 

Nice to Have

  • Iterative SDLC certifications

 

 

Qualifications:

 

A minimum of five to ten (5-10) years of prior experience in business analysis

 

Education and/or Experience:

 

A Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent experience.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

 

Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) preferred

 

Computer Skills:

 

Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and Outlook

Proficiency using Project Management software programs such as MS Project and SmartSheet

 

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:

 

Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry and vision to monitor. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
