The Vice President / COO of Operations and IT provides leadership and coordination for the company’s business operations and information systems; leads and partners with executive leadership and management to create a long-term strategic plan that aligns with and enables the long-term business goals established; and recommends and implements business solutions and technology required to provide a productive and efficient environment. The VP / COO has accountability for sustainable revenue generation and profitability. The VP / COO has the ability to operate in a dynamic healthcare environment and has skills traversing the Board Room down to getting hands dirty with every level of staff.


  • Provides executive leadership across healthcare Strategic Business Units (SBUs)
  • Accountable for Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) and driving businesses towards profitability
  • Provides fiscal leadership and discipline including budget management, forecasting, and executive reporting
  • Defines and evolves business processes, including KVI’s, KPIs, staffing levels, and productivity standards
  • Responsible for client relationship management, satisfaction, and partnering with business development
  • Partners with the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director, and clinical teams to develop business solutions for new opportunities
  • Ensures execution against business objectives
  • Manages the day-to-day execution of operations including directing staff, who support patient scheduling, provision of clinical care, claims billing, posting, and reconciliation
  • Provides leadership and accountability for proposal development
  • Leads teams for M&A due diligence, negotiations, and integration
  • Assists in the planning and defining of IT goals and metrics aligned with the business.
  • Oversees all aspects of the information systems and communications network.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the IT department including directing staff, who support administrative computing, applications, networking, user services, telecommunications and other information technology functions.
  • Manages all software development by balancing department resources to business priorities.
  • Interacts with executive management to monitor and validate compliance with HIPAA and security best practices.
  • Develops and maintains system programming procedures and standards.
  • Evaluates and manages technical resources to maximize productivity, efficiency, and resource allocation.
  • Assesses and anticipates technology projects to drive innovation and efficiency with the business and recommend appropriate action and resources.
  • Provides vendor management by evaluating, reviewing and approving vendor solutions and contracts.

Supervisory Responsibilities:   15 or more employees


  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible management experience in business operations.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience in IT/computer operations required.
  • Experience in a health care environment including.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the areas of computer operations; hardware and software applications including data base management, network and data center operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong project planning, management and supervisory experience required.
  • Proven ability to create the written records and presentations necessary to document CHS’ compliance with applicable laws, regulations and external oversight of organization standards.


Education and/or Experience:


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related healthcare field is required.
  • A Master of Business Administration is preferred.

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:


Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to repetitive motion, such as typing, data entry and vision to monitor. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
