Physician liaison provides marketing, sales or business development to hospitals, hospitalist and skilled nursing facilities. This position is essentially a combination of sales and public relations. A core selling responsibility of the liaison is to prospect with local hospitalist to increase the number of outpatients the physicians refer to the liaison's medical practitioners for care within the skilled nursing facilities (SNF). Our providers require steady patient traffic to generate revenue and cover expenses. The liaison must meet with hospitals and physicians in the local market and promote the hospital's services. The hospital and hospitalist need to understand the capabilities of our practice and quality of care to confidently refer patients for treatment.  


  • The role is structured to maximize direct one-to-one communication and face time with referring physicians -- including hospital and office visits, telephone calls, gathering feedback and providing information useful to our growth and development. 
  • Travel within Tampa Bay area.
  • Business development requires time spent on building and maintaining relationships.
  • Arrange and lead public relations campaigns and other awareness efforts so the local community views our practitioners as delivering high quality collaborative medicine.
  • Educate hospitals, hospitalist, SNFs as to the clinical benefits and services provided.
  • Respond to inquiries, questions or concerns about operational matters.
  • Participate in outreach programs including conferences, trade shows and other program related events.
  • Report to management on progress in building referrals and managing facility and practitioner relationships.
  • Ability to forecast and achieve budgeted volumes, growth, and revenues
  • Availability to complete a minimum of 8-10 sales visits per day
  • Provide detailed written reports and plans as required

  • Existing business development relationships with hospitals and hospitalist in the Tampa Bay area.
  • Ability to work with and through others, building and maintaining relationships, and working closely and accurately with established guidelines.
  • Effective communicator able to stimulate and motive others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns.
  • Ability to work in a faster-than-average pace.

  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and recognize productive tasks that lead to completing assigned objectives.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three years of previous experience within the healthcare marketplace.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and private payor regulations, policies and procedures is desirable.

Computer Skills:


  • Proficiency using a Windows software platform.
  • Experience using SalesForce (CRM/contact management programs)


Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:


Extensive travel while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to drive. Must have the ability to maintain active customer communication; access, input and retrieve information for the computer system, enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry and vision to monitor.
